COUTTS DOUBT FOR PRESTON
Preston midfielder Paul Coutts remains an injury doubt as Graham Westley prepares to take his struggling squad to Exeter.
Coutts, who was stripped of the North End captaincy early in Westley's tenure as manager after signalling his intention to hand in a transfer request, missed Tuesday night's 2-1 defeat at Tranmere with a thigh problem and is battling to be in contention against the Grecians.
Defenders David Gray and Steven Smith will once again push for inclusion in the Lilywhites squad having recently returned from injury, although academy trio Bailey Wright, George Miller and Luke Clark were preferred among the substitutes at Prenton Park.
Adam Barton (broken leg) is out for the season but striker Neil Mellor is poised to return to training following a lengthy knee injury absence.
Scott Bennett and Danny Coles are definitely out for Exeter after the pair suffered season-ending injuries.
Defensive midfielder Bennett came off after just 30 minutes in the 3-0 defeat to MK Dons on Saturday with a hamstring tear.
Defender Coles will miss the rest of the campaign after he fractured his spine during a freak training ground collision with goalkeeper Artur Krysiak on Monday.
That collision could also rule Krysiak out against North End while strike duo Jamie Cureton and Daniel Nardiello are doubtful with knocks.
Defender Billy Jones (thigh) is a doubt and Grecians manager Paul Tisdale is without captain David Noble who serves the second match of a three-game ban for a red card against Brentford.
Richard Duffy is another absentee as the defender has had an operation on his groin strain.
